How do You Choose the Best Oil for Cold Weather?

When the cold weather strikes, it's important that you provide your car with what it needs to be able to start right up in the frigid temperatures. Part of that means having a good battery that is properly maintained, but part of keeping your car in the best shape in cold weather is having the proper motor oil.

When you look at a bottle of motor oil, you will see some numbers and letters such as 5w-30. These are oil viscosity numbers. The first number is the viscosity rating in cold temperatures, and the second number is for hot temperature. If you live in a cold climate, you want 0w or 5w in the winter. These oils will flow more freely in cold weather. They will not get as thick.
